The East Midlands ISDN was pleased to be able to attend the national stroke conference UKSF in Aberdeen, hosted by the Stroke Association and BIASP. This was a tremendous opportunity to hear talks from stroke experts from across the world, learn about new research into the prevention and treatment of acute stroke, as well as improvements in the rehabilitation of stroke survivors.
Key sessions included how lifestyle changes can significantly reduce the risk of stroke, the importance of early detection and treatment of stroke patients through thombolysis and thrombectomy, pharmacalogical methods to improve patient outcome after stroke, iimprovement in techniques to rehabilitate stroke survivors, and the importance of supporting stroke survivors to return to employment, including the rights to reasonable adjustment to facilitate this.
The ISDN will be taking learning from this event to shape its focus moving forwards as well as sharing highlights at regional networking events.
